OLGA ORIGIN 2009
Teijido Viñedos y Bodega is a small artisanal winery owned by Jose Manuel Teijido located in Rivadumia, in the Salnés Valley, in the Rías Baixas. The Teijido family has been linked to wine for 40 years, whose story begins with Olga, mother of Jose Manuel, a strong woman of great character. In 2009, Jose Manuel decided to start marketing his Albariño, which produced only 711 bottles. For health reasons, he did not commercialize that first Albariño 2009 and had to interrupt his project until in 2015 his 100% Albariño Olga 2015 was released for the first time. Jose Manuel has more than 1 Ha of vineyard and They currently produce around 9,000 bottles of albariño per year. Jose Manuel's way of working is as traditional and traditional as possible and in the cellar no yeasts or exogenous products are added.
After a slow wait in a stainless steel tank. and 10 years later, Olga Origen 2009 goes on the market for the first time in November 2019.
The 2009 vintage was a steamy vintage in Spain in general, but in Rías Baixas the vintage performed much better, with higher yields and an extraordinary end of the cycle, with no rainfall and cool nights that retained the acidity in the grapes, the which were harvested in magnificent sanitary state. In Olga Origen 2009 a selected harvest was made, destemmed and criomaceró prior to fermentation with native yeasts. After the alcoholic fermentation he carried out the malolactic fermentation in a concrete tank and remained on its fine lees for 6 months. The rest of the time has remained in a stainless steel tank until the first week of September 2019 where it is stabilized and bottled for marketing 2 months later, in November 2019.
Olga Origen 2009 has a golden yellow color with greenish reflections, clean and bright. In the nose it has a medium-high intensity, with notes of magnificent evolution to candied fruit, dried apricot, claudia plum, pineapple, ripe white fruit, floral (linden), orange blossom honey, hydrocarbon notes, on a roasted lees background. In the mouth it has very good intensity, with medium volume and good balance, without edges, intense, sapid, saline with bitter and persistent finish.
A great example that good white wines do not have to drink in 2 or 3 years, and that those made with good raw material can evolve in a magnificent way, with crisp and well-defined aromas of evolution, where they do not exist signs of fatigue and yes of complexity added by the static aging in the steel tank.
