Xanledo 2022

Ref. T0101196F

D.O. Ribeiro, Spain - Caiño Longo (60%), approx 35% of Brancellao and another 5% of Espadeiro on “sabrego” (granitic sand) soils. It was harvested in early September in perfect sanitary condition. The whole clusters fermented with its native yeasts, separated the lots by plots and varieties. Covered for 40 days and subsequent aging of 11 months in French oak barrels (20% new barrel). Bottled in early November 2018. It has a medium layer cherry color. The nose is very intense and fragrant with notes of ripe red fruits, violets, earthy notes and minerals. In the mouth there is more freshness and precision than other years thanks to a very successful acidity, a lot of balance and elegance, medium body, round tannins and an end of good persistence. Recommended by El Sommelier.

XANLEDO 2017

Pepe is a pharmacist by profession in Vigo, made a master's degree in viticulture and oenology and worked with Jiménez Landi where he became friends with the famous winemaker Raúl Pérez. As a result of this friendship, his wine emerged in Bierzo called “O viño do Pepiño” and his current personal project Viñedos do Gabián, where he has produced this magnificent red wine called Xanledo. It has 5 Ha in Carballeda de Avia where it is planting vineyard. It currently has 2 hectares planted in “socalcos” or terraces and also buys grapes from winemakers in the area. The viticulture is organic and the terroir is marked by the soils of "Sabrego" (granite sand).

Xanledo 2017 is the fourth vintage that sells and that never ceases to surprise us. Since its first vintage 2013 we follow its steps with attention and it is one of these projects that you do not explain how each year is overcome and makes better wine than the previous year, when we think it is impressive every year. It is one of the red wines that has moved us most this year 2017 and that seems to us a paradigm of what a good ribeiro should be.
