AOC Champagne (Côte des Bar), France - 100% Pinot Noir from a single calcareous plot of the same name, characterized by its 100% Portlandian soil. The soil conditions in Côte des Bar are identical to those of nearby Chablis, composed of Kimmeridgian calcareous marl and the less clayey Portlandian soil. Bardiau's overall philosophy is to let the terroir shine in all its wines. Therefore, they work closely with their different plots, which are cultivated according to sustainable principles (Bardiau is certified for Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne) and with a very low dosage of liqueur d'expédition.
First fermentation in oak barrels, followed by bottling in May 2020. Aged for a minimum of 40 months on the lees with a dosage of only 1 gram of sugar per liter, hence the wine's classification as extra brut. A magnificent champagne and a great representative of the Côte des Bar terroir. Recommended by The Sommelier.
