SUERTES DEL MARQUÉS TRENZADO 2025
Trenzado 2025 is one of the distinctive white wines of Valle de La Orotava, in Tenerife. Produced by Suertes del Marqués from indigenous white grape varieties, predominantly Listán Blanco, it expresses the character of traditional Canarian vineyards and their volcanic soils. An Atlantic white wine with energy, minerality and a pronounced saline character, it offers the depth and versatility to shine at the table.
PHILOSOPHY
Suertes del Marqués is a family-run winery in Valle de La Orotava, in northern Tenerife. Its work focuses on preserving the island’s viticultural heritage, highlighting indigenous grape varieties, old vines and traditional growing methods that form an essential part of the region’s identity.
The winery aims to express the differences between individual sites and the distinctive character of volcanic soils, combining respect for tradition with winemaking designed to preserve the personality of the grapes. Trenzado is a particularly clear expression of this philosophy: a wine that reflects Tenerife’s landscape, the influence of the Atlantic and a viticultural heritage that remains very much alive.
WINEMAKING AND VINTAGE
Trenzado comes from several sites in the western part of Valle de La Orotava, in the municipality of Los Realejos. It is made primarily from Listán Blanco, alongside other traditional white varieties from the area.
Fermentation and ageing take place in large wooden vessels and barrels, adding texture and complexity without overshadowing the grapes or the mineral character of the terroir. The oak remains discreetly integrated, allowing the wine’s freshness and sense of place to take centre stage.
The 2025 vintage retains the qualities that define Trenzado: freshness, tension, minerality and a distinctive Atlantic personality. It combines energy and depth, with a clear expression of the volcanic landscape in which its vineyards grow.
VINEYARDS AND GRAPE VARIETIES
The vineyards lie in the western part of Valle de La Orotava, in Tenerife, on volcanic soils where basaltic rock can be found close to the surface. These sites reflect the diversity of the landscape and the influence of the Atlantic climate.
The vines are trained using the traditional cordón trenzado system, a distinctive local method of vine training that gives the wine its name. Trenzado is made predominantly from Listán Blanco, a variety that contributes freshness, acidity and an ability to express the mineral nuances of the soil. Old vines, indigenous varieties and unique growing conditions all contribute to its identity.
TASTING NOTES
Bright yellow in colour, the wine opens with mineral and saline aromas, accompanied by citrus and white-fruit notes that bring freshness while allowing the character of the terroir to remain at the forefront.
On the palate, it is lively, precise and vibrant. Its acidity provides tension and drive, while the texture and ageing contribute depth. The oak remains subtly integrated, and the persistent, mineral finish leaves a distinct saline impression. A characterful white wine that combines freshness with a clear volcanic identity.
FOOD PAIRING
Its freshness, acidity and mineral character make it an excellent match for fish, seafood and shellfish. It also pairs beautifully with seafood rice dishes, cod, baked fish, poultry and grilled vegetables. Its structure allows it to accompany more elaborate dishes without losing balance, while its Atlantic profile is particularly well suited to seafood cuisine.
