The 2016 vintage of Vega Sicilia Único was characterized by very balanced weather conditions, with a mild winter, a cooler-than-usual spring, a warm summer, and a dry September that favored even ripening and excellent grape health. The harvest took place between September 22nd and October 11th.
The wine is made with 96% Tinto Fino and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon. After rigorous grape selection, Único undergoes its traditional extended aging process, combining new and used French and American oak barrels, large 20,000-liter wooden vats, and extensive bottle aging. True to the winery's style, it is released approximately ten years after the harvest.
The 2016 vintage stands out for its elegance, freshness, and precision, offering a complex aromatic profile and great energy on the palate. Production reached 92,292 bottles, 3,695 magnums, and a limited number of special formats. Bottling took place in May 2022.
