Fulcro A Cesteira 2023 is one of the most unique and personal expressions of contemporary Albariño. Made by Manuel "Chicho" Moldes at Bodegas Fulcro, it comes from the A Cesteira estate, a small plot located in the heart of the Salnés Valley, where some of the oldest vines on the property grow on exceptional soils of schist or highly decomposed red slate, a geological rarity within Rías Baixas that imparts a distinctive character to the wine.

This wine is made from vines between 50 and 70 years old, trained on pergolas and cultivated using environmentally friendly viticulture practices. The harvest is done by hand, and fermentation takes place with native yeasts, seeking to preserve the identity of the plot and the varietal purity of the Albariño. The wine is then aged for approximately eight months in used 500 and 700-liter French oak barrels, without malolactic fermentation, preserving all the tension, freshness, and energy characteristic of the vineyard.

On the nose, it stands out for its extraordinary complexity and elegance. Notes of lime, grapefruit, and fresh citrus appear, accompanied by balsamic nuances reminiscent of mint and eucalyptus. With aeration, hints of wildflowers, white chocolate, damp stone, and marine evocations emerge, clearly reflecting its Atlantic origin.

On the palate, it combines depth and precision. It is a full-bodied, compact, and structured Albariño, where a creamy texture coexists with vibrant acidity and a marked saline sensation. The influence of schist adds tension and mineral character, while aging in used oak adds complexity without masking the purity of the fruit. The finish is long, intense, and profoundly Atlantic, leaving a sensation of freshness and savoriness that invites another sip.

A Cesteira perfectly embodies Fulcro's philosophy: single-vineyard wines, precise winemaking, and a constant search for the identity of the great terroirs of the Salnés region. This Albariño boasts immense personality, combining the energy of the Atlantic Ocean with the mineral depth of the slate soils, placing it among the most exciting examples of new Galician viticulture.
