DOC. Langhe (Piedmont), Italy - 100% Nebbiolo from vineyards located in the Langhe region, cultivated according to the strict quality standards of the Rosso family. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with careful maceration to preserve the aromatic finesse of the variety.
The wine then ages for several months in large oak barrels, a traditional Piedmontese aging method that promotes slow evolution without masking the purity of the fruit or the mineral expression of the Nebbiolo. The result is a Langhe Nebbiolo that offers great approachability in its youth, yet has enough structure to age gracefully for several years. Recommended by The Sommelier.
GIOVANNI ROSSO LANGHE 2024
The history of Giovanni Rosso dates back to 1890, when the family began cultivating vineyards in Serralunga d'Alba, one of the most prestigious municipalities in Barolo. Since 2001, Davide Rosso, the fourth generation of the family, has run the winery, providing a modern vision based on the utmost respect for the vineyard and the terroir. Under his direction, Giovanni Rosso has established itself as one of the great references of Piedmont, producing wines that precisely express the personality of each plot, both in the Langhe and in his project in Sicilian Etna.
Philosophy
Giovanni Rosso's motto perfectly summarizes his way of understanding wine: "Wine must be the perfect copy of its terroir." All viticulture is aimed at respecting the character of the vineyard through contained yields, careful manual work and minimal interventionist vinifications. Wood never seeks prominence; Its function is to accompany the wine so that the Nebbiolo variety and the origin are always the true protagonists.
Preparation and vintage
Giovanni Rosso Langhe Nebbiolo 2024 is made exclusively with 100% Nebbiolo from vineyards located in the Langhe, cultivated under the strict quality criteria of the Rosso family. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with careful macerations to preserve the aromatic finesse of the variety.
Subsequently, the wine ages for several months in large oak botti, a traditional type of Piedmont aging that favors a slow evolution without masking the purity of the fruit or the mineral expression of the Nebbiolo. The result is a Langhe Nebbiolo that offers great accessibility in its youth, but with enough structure to evolve favorably over several years.
Tasting note
Bright ruby red in color with garnet reflections, the nose offers a classic Nebbiolo profile with aromas of red cherry, raspberry, rose petals, violets and subtle spicy and toasted memories.
In the mouth it stands out for its elegance, freshness and balance. It presents fine tannins, lively acidity and a refined character dominated by red fruit, floral notes and a delicate mineral background. The finish is persistent, clean and harmonious, showing the precise and elegant style that characterizes Giovanni Rosso.
Pairing
Ideal with fresh pasta with truffle, mushroom risotto, Italian sausages, white meats, veal, duck, roast lamb, small game birds and semi-mature cheeses. It also harmonizes perfectly with traditional Piedmontese cuisine and dishes made with mushrooms and truffle.
