AOC. Champagne (Vallée de la Marne), France - 55% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot noir.
Legrand-Latour Lutétien Brut Nature 2021 is one of the most unique cuvées of the new generation of terroir champagnes from the Vallée de la Marne. Made by Thibault Legrand in the town of Vandières, this champagne takes its name from the Lutecian, a geological period of the Middle Eocene that gave rise to the extraordinary deposits of calcareous sands rich in marine fossils that characterize the property's vineyards. These formations, created approximately 45 million years ago, constitute the mineral base that defines the personality of this cuvée.
The 2021 vintage is made from an blend of 55% Chardonnay and 45% Pinot Noir from organic vineyards located in Vandières. Vinification follows a philosophy of minimal intervention, with twelve months of aging in barrels on lees, drafting with grape must and no added sugar. Like Brut Nature, it is presented without dosage, allowing the expression of the vineyard and the soil to manifest with absolute purity.
On the nose it displays precise aromas of fresh citrus fruits, green apple, pear, white flowers and delicate notes of toasted bread. With aeration, nuances of wet chalk, seashells, almond and subtle hints of spice emerge that reflect the complexity of the property's fossil soils.
The palate stands out for its extraordinary tension, a fine and perfectly integrated bubble and a marked calcareous imprint. Chardonnay provides verticality, freshness and precision, while Pinot Noir contributes structure, depth and length. The result is a champagne of great purity, vibrant, saline and deeply gastronomic, where minerality dominates over any exuberant expression of the fruit.
Legrand-Latour Lutétien Brut Nature 2021 is an ideal companion for oysters, shellfish, crustaceans, white fish, Japanese cuisine, fresh cheeses and preparations where delicacy and minerality are the protagonists. Its combination of energy, depth and elegance makes it an essential reference for fans of terroir champagnes and wines with a marked geological identity.
This cuvée perfectly represents Legrand-Latour's philosophy: interpreting each geological stratum of its vineyards through precise, transparent wines deeply linked to their origin. A champagne that combines geological history, organic viticulture and artisanal production to offer one of the most authentic expressions of the Vallée de la Marne.
