D.O. Bullas, Murcia - 100% Monastrell, is a natural red wine produced by La del Terreno, Julia Casado's personal project in the D.O. Bullas (Murcia, Spain). The wine's name (La del Terreno) refers precisely to the local Monastrell variety, known locally as "la del terreno" (the land of the land), highlighting the deep connection between the grape, the landscape, and the winemaking style.
The grapes come from three small mountain plots with vines around 30 years old, located between 800 and 1300 meters above sea level on varied soils ranging from granitic to calcareous gravel, which favors slow and balanced ripening in a Mediterranean climate influenced by altitude.
The winemaking process adheres to the winery's natural and artisanal philosophy: after a manual harvest, the grapes, primarily Monastrell along with small proportions of Garnacha and Airén, are fermented with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks and open wooden vats, where a maceration of approximately six days takes place to extract color and structure without harshness. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in concrete tanks, thus respecting varietal purity and avoiding any invasive influence from new oak. It is neither clarified nor filtered before bottling, preserving the wine's intense and authentic expression.
