AOC. Champagne, France - 50% Meunier, 50% Chardonnay. This is a refined expression of Lieu-Dit "Le Mont Benoît," a blend of equal parts Meunier and Chardonnay from old vines planted in 1962 using mass selection, ensuring a genetic biodiversity that enriches the wine's complexity. Vinification and aging take place for 11 months in French oak foudres, followed by 6 years of bottle aging on its lees, a long period that gives the Champagne depth and character. The production process is artisanal and natural: the wine is unfiltered and fermented with native yeasts, respecting the true expression of the terroir to the fullest. Extremely limited production of just 3,189 bottles, making this Champagne a true rarity, ideal for those seeking pure emotions and a sincere interpretation of Lieu-Dit "Le Mont Benoît."
This winery is located near Reims and has around 2.5 hectares of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, and Chardonnay. The area is a small hill, Mont Benoît, where young vines are planted alongside older ones, even as old as 60 years old. The Chardonnay is found at the top of the hill, where the soil is only 30 cm thick. The Meunier grows downslope. Each vine finds the best conditions here to express its full potential. Emmanuel Brochet carefully tends his vineyards and has adopted biodynamics. This young winemaker is talented and has a promising future. One of Le Sommelier's favorite champagnes.
