GUTIER SEIJO MIXTURA WHITE 2020

Mixtura (Independent wines) is the personal project of the Galician viticulturist and oenologist Gutier Seijo. After its premiere with its basic range called MIX, on this occasion, Gutier surprises us with a new white, Mixtura blanco 2019, a white that makes a qualitative leap with respect to the MIX range, a white that recently received the Award. for the Best Revelation Wine of the Peñín Guide 2022.

In 2019, Gutier left Dominio do Bibei to bet on his own project. A project that he builds on the search and recovery of historic vineyards and their autochthonous varieties. Gutier settles in Esposende (Rivadavia), in the Avia Valley, in the heart of the Ribeiro where he rehabilitates an abandoned 50s winery, creating a unique architectural space of noble materials such as stone and wood to work on his creations singular. Gutier selects historic vineyards, with special characteristics that he seeks and, in this case also, despite the fact that the grapes come from three different areas, they have a connecting link.

Vineyard: Mixtura blanco 2019 is made with 55% Treixadura from the Avia valley and 45% Albariño from Valeixe (Condado) and Melgaço (Portugal). The soils are in the three zones of granitic origin with more or less quantity of decomposed sand.

Winemaking: selection in the vineyard bunch by bunch. Pressing of the whole grape, fermentations with indigenous yeasts in Austrian oak barrels (Stockinger). Subsequently, it is aged for 12 months with static lees in a Stockinger cask and in concrete tanks.

Tasting: intense and bright yellow color with golden reflections. On the nose it has medium intensity, initially, which with oxygenation begins to show all its complexity, offering notes of stone fruit, apricot, plum, yellow flowers, mountain herbs on a mineral background of flint. In the mouth there is more precision and elegance than in the White MIX, very good definition, very good acidity and a bitter finish that makes it very persistent.

Production: 9,219 bottles. 12.5% ​​Alc. Recommended serving temperature: 10ºC

Optimal consumption: 2021-2026

Pairing: baked fish, stews, seafood rice, grilled seafood, grilled octopus, baked chicken, baked cod, foie, Iberian, fresh cheeses, fish and shellfish, seafood stews and rice dishes. Galician cheeses of low maturity, fatty and of characteristic acidity (Cebreiro, Arzúa-Ulloa, San Simón…).
