ENVÍNATE BENJE BLANCO 2025: THE VOLCANIC CHARACTER OF TENERIFE

Envínate Benje Blanco 2025 is a distinctive white wine from Tenerife, in Spain's Canary Islands, expressing the unique character of the volcanic vineyards of Santiago del Teide. Made entirely from Listán Blanco, it comes from old vines grown at high altitude on volcanic-origin soils, in a landscape shaped by the influence of the Atlantic Ocean.

The combination of old vines, altitude and careful winemaking results in a white wine with freshness, mineral complexity and a strong sense of place. It offers a distinctive expression of Spanish white wine, far removed from more conventional styles.

At El Sumiller, we focus on wines that communicate the character of their origins. Benje Blanco is an appealing choice for wine lovers seeking volcanic terroir, indigenous grape varieties and thoughtful, low-intervention winemaking.

PHILOSOPHY

Envínate is the project of four friends with backgrounds in winemaking who share a common philosophy: to produce wines that faithfully express their vineyards and grape varieties while respecting the environment and limiting intervention in the cellar.

In Tenerife, this approach focuses on traditional vineyards where Listán Blanco expresses its distinctive character through the combination of volcanic soils, altitude and the growing conditions of Santiago del Teide.

Benje Blanco reflects this philosophy, placing the vineyard, the local grape variety and the identity of the landscape at the centre of the wine.

WINEMAKING AND VINTAGE

The winemaking and grape provenance of Envínate Benje Blanco 2025 are closely linked to the vineyards of Santiago del Teide, located at approximately 1,000 metres above sea level.

The grapes are harvested by hand and directly pressed. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks and small open-top vessels. The wine is then aged for approximately eight months on its fine lees in concrete tanks and neutral French oak vessels.

This approach aims to preserve the character of Listán Blanco and the identity of the volcanic terroir, resulting in a white wine with freshness, texture and mineral complexity.

VINEYARDS AND GRAPE VARIETY

Benje Blanco is made entirely from Listán Blanco, a traditional Canary Islands grape variety that finds a distinctive expression in Tenerife.

The vines grow on volcanic soils containing basaltic materials and red volcanic tuff, in vineyards situated at high altitude. The age of the vines and the particular growing conditions contribute to the complexity and individuality of the grapes.

The combination of altitude, volcanic soils and Atlantic influence gives this wine a distinctive identity rooted in Tenerife's winemaking heritage.

TASTING NOTES

The nose reveals aromas of white fruit, particularly apple and pear, alongside floral notes, herbal nuances and hints of citrus. A mineral background and subtle smoky undertones add complexity.

On the palate, the wine is fresh and lively, with balanced acidity and a rounded texture developed through ageing on the lees. White fruit flavours combine with mineral notes, leading to a persistent finish with a subtle saline character and a delicate almond-like hint.

An expressive, food-friendly white wine that balances freshness, texture and volcanic character.

FOOD PAIRING

Envínate Benje Blanco 2025 pairs particularly well with white fish, seafood, shellfish and seafood rice dishes. Its freshness and mineral character also complement grilled fish, ceviche and Atlantic-inspired cuisine.

For more contemporary pairings, it works well with sushi, moderately spiced Asian dishes and mild cheeses. It is an excellent option for wine lovers seeking a distinctive white wine with freshness and complexity at the table.
