Fulcro Winery Finca A Pedreira 2023
Manuel Moldes, better known by Chicho, is the winemaker of Bodegas Fulcro, located in Vilalonga (Sanxenxo). Chicho, is one of those modest types, always ready and with a smile on his face, whom we have been following from the beginning and for whom we are proud of the evolution of his wines and their greatness despite their contained prices. . The Chicho winery is actually an expanded area of their home, where they always made wine for them. In 2009 he decides to unleash his great passion and hobby and take over the winery with the intention of professionalizing it. The first vintage it sells is 2010 and this is the ninth vintage it sells. Today it is still a small winery, producing only 20,000 bottles in total, but of an unsurpassed level in its price range. As he says, it could grow much more, but he prefers to grow little by little and make the style of wines that he likes without the pressure of having to sell. Chicho likes to make some very personal wines far from the vast majority of Rias Baixas. It seeks that the wine keeps the freshness of the variety and for this reason its wines are not malolactic. He likes that his wines are very mineral, so he always looks for the best plots in the area, granite floors and “Xisto” (a kind of very worn red slate). In the cellar the intervention is minimal, trying to respect the identity of the wine to the maximum. Currently he produces 3 albariño grape whites, Fulcro, Finca A Pedreira and A Pescuda and 2 reds, one comes from Bierzo in collaboration with his friend Jose Antonio García called Pescuda red and a new red called Aliaxe, or, made with the indigenous Caiño varieties and Espadeiro.
