Thibaud Boudignon Anjou Blanc 2024

Ref. B0204024B

AOC. Anjou Blanc (Loire), France - 100% Chenin Blanc of 35-year-old vines on shallow soils of gray shist and rhyolite (volcanic rock) and a planting density of 8,000 vines / ha. Fermented in stainless steel with native yeasts for 2 to 3 weeks, followed by maturation in 300 liters and 750 liters (30% new) for 15 to 18 months. It has a surprising purity with excellent depth and intensity. The mouth is very sharp, but not lacking in structure with a marked minerality, depth and great length. This chenin blanc reminds us of the good vintages and chenin level of the prestigious Richard Leroy. Recommended by El Sommelier.

THIBAUD BOUDIGNON ANJOU BLANC 2024

Thibaud Boudignon is, at present, one of the most interesting viticulturists of the Loire Valley, based in Savennières. Originally from Bordeaux, he worked in the early 2000s with Philipe Charlopin in Gevrey-Chambertin and also in Australia. In 2007 he was hired to work as a winemaker for the prestigious property of Anjou, Château Soucherie. His first and most important contribution to the farm was the introduction of strict organic practices in the vineyards that, along with his immense winemaking skills, elevated this domain and historical to new heights. It was in 2009 when he began to make wine under his own name, from the scarce 3.8 hectares that he gradually bought and planted several first quality plots in the small Savennières denomination, including a plot bordering the vineyard of Baumard Clos St Yves ( not far from the Roche aux Moines vineyard). It also owns two small vineyards across the river on the south side of the Loire in the Anjou. In total, Thibaud produces 2 plot targets in Savennières "Les Fougerais" and "Clos de la Hutte" and 2 other targets from the parcels of Anjou, "a Francoise" and the Anjou Blanc that occupies us in this lot of May.

In the vineyard Thibaud works organically out of conviction. Aware that the quality of the grape is the most important, he is absolutely committed to the health of his vineyards where he spends most of his time working. The harvest is done by hand, making successive attempts in each vineyard, ending with yields that are much lower than the AOC standards.
